The earth is losing animal species at a startling rate, and without places like the Gibbon Conservation Center in Santa Clarita, CA, we can expect that rate to grow. With everyone’s support, conservation centers can continue to help save these animals for years to come.
But just how can you help?
By supporting the Gibbon Conservation Center, of course! But you don’t have to just donate money. Instead, take advantage of any of the activities and events available at the center in 2020.
Tours
The Gibbon Conservation Center is opened to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 AM. to noon. Visitors are not required to have a reservation. Guests can join in on a tour to learn about gibbons’ lifestyle, the different threats to the species, and steps that are being taken to preserve their natural habitat. If you’re lucky, you might even get to hear the gibbons sing their famous calls.
Private tours are available with a minimum of eight people and are available for booking at any time in the week as long as the tour is arranged a week in advance.
ApeArt Painting Party
Do you like art? Love animals? This is the perfect event for friends and family to enjoy a short tour of the conservation center, followed by learning how to paint a gibbon with the help of an instructor. The Ape Art Painting Party is a fun way to support a great cause, and you even end up with a cool piece of art afterward. You can bring along your own snacks and drinks.
Yoga with the Gibbons
Getting fit has never felt better when you know your contributions are going to a great cause. Are you a beginner to yoga? A seasoned instructor will be on hand to help guide you through the motions to improve your flexibility and balance. At Yoga with the Gibbons, you will be surrounded by the animals you want to save — although they will still be in their enclosures.
Caregiver for a Day
Want to really get up close and personal? Be sure to enroll in the special Assistant Caregiver for a Day program. You will have the chance to experience what it is like being a caregiver by following and assisting staff with their daily duties. Learn about the conservation center up close, help prepare meals for 40 gibbons, and learn about each individual gibbon and their family dynamics.
Out of town? No Problem!
There are many great hotels in the area that are more than ready to receive guests! Hang out with the gibbons during the day and return to any one of the comfortable hotels in the area.

Conservation efforts are only effective if the support behind their work is supported by the people. Take, for example, the hard work of conservationists that helped boost the number of the endangered Mountain Gorilla. One day we can hope that the work done by these wonderful people will help keep the beautiful animals we love today around for many more years.
