However, some folks are not moving on because of the costs involved while others don’t know from where to begin and how to make eco friendly home. Lower the Use of Electricity

You can starting going green by lowering down the use of electricity. One of the first things you can do is to switch from incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent light (CFLs) bulbs. The reason for this is that you could save more energy and money on your electricity bills since CFLs bulbs consume 75% less energy as compared to incandescent bulbs. If you don’t like the whitish light of CFLs bulbs, you could also go for different colors like yellowish that way you won’t miss the warmth and light of traditional incandescent bulbs.

On the other hand, it is recommended to buy those electricity appliances and products that are Energy Star qualified as they consume less energy. Also, if you have the habit of leaving different electrical appliances and devices plugged in even when not in use then it’s better to take out the plug because even when they’re not in use, they consume some electricity. Lastly, getting geothermal heating and cooling system would also results in large amount of energy savings as well as money savings.

Reduced Water Usage

We all are pretty well aware of the fact that world population has drastically increased in the last two decades and the way things are, it seems like the trend is not going to change anytime soon. However, water being one of the most basic and extremely important resource for all the living people on earth is not increasing with the same speed it is rather going towards the other side – decreasing. Many analysts and experts have predicted that it is very likely for countries to go on war in future over water disputes. Yes, the overall situation is really bad and the worst part is many people take it for granted and waste it without even blinking an eye.

But, it’s high time that we start playing our role at individual levels and start saving this extremely importance and scarce resource. Start by replacing the nozzles of different taps and showers in your home with low flow, high pressure ones. You could also to old way of taking baths, use the buckets and that means one should do the job because normally showers waste more water as compared to using buckets. You should also have a proper schedule for taking baths, doing laundry and dishes etc. and try to save as much as you can.

If you start by acting on these two important tips, you’d be doing a favor to yourself, many other people in the world and most importantly to our beloved – earth and also start making your home eco friendly.
